Florence was such a beautiful small city. You can explore entire city by walk. That’s the beauty of Florence, little charm in Europe. The architectures were amazing. Me and My friend arrived there on mid-summer day, and it was too hot. But it didn’t stop us from exploring the city.
We caught a train from Rome to Florence and if I remember well, the train ride was about 4 hours. We arrived there in the afternoon. The hotel I had booked was close to the station. So we decided to walk to our hotel with our luggage, but it was no fun during mid-summer afternoon. The hotel was small 3 star charm. It ran by 2 people who were extremely nice and helpful.
We decided to go to Pisa to see Leaning Tower of Pisa on the same day, as the train ride from Florence to Pisa was an hour journey. Once we settled in our room, we had shower changed, and left for Pisa around 4p.m. We arrived in Pisa by train just after 5pm. We inquired some people how to get to the tower. People had different opinion. Some said to walk along a river, and some said to catch the bus. We finally decided to catch a bus, as we didn’t know how long the walk would take, even though some said about 15-20. But our decision to catch the bus was good, and we got off near the tower. The bus journey was about 10mins.
The tower was beautiful. Not very tall, as I expected. We took some memorable photos there and lied on the beautiful grass and enjoyed the surroundings. It has cooled down, and the weather was perfect, and there were lot of tourist as it’s one of the major attractions there.
After spending 2 hours there, we headed back to Pisa town by bus again and had a nice cool beer at a restaurant. It was alfresco style restaurant. As the place was beautiful, and we gave up our idea of having dinner in a different restaurant and had dinner at the same place. After a nice Italian dinner at Pisa, we took the last train back to Florence.
The following day we explored the whole city by walk. Florence was so beautiful., clean compared to Rome. I guess the population was also too small.
Another beautiful place to visit apart from museums and churches is Michelangelo lookout. We ended our 2nd day at this lookout. Michelangelo’s David sculpture was amazing . Just a beautiful spot to take panoramic photos of Florence and then enjoy watching sun setting over Florence. There are no better way to end a visit to Florence than taking memorable photo moments at this lookout.
